If your post is related to a template issue, please also post a link to your website or the webpage where the problem is happening.

Be wary of people asking you for Admin Access or FTP Server Details.

Selling Extensions & Exploiting Topics
-Second opinions on existing topics are always allowed and encouraged, as well as mentioning of extensions. However, if you are trying to exploit a topic with intentions of selling your extension you will be warned. There is a clear distinction between offering your extension as true help and exploiting. What does exploit mean? to utilize, especially for profit; turn to practical account; to use selfishly for one's own ends. Obviously, there are thousands upon thousands of posts answered and replied to with the suggestion of extensions and this is encouraged. Again, there is a clear distinction between helping, and exploiting. If you are only here to piggy back topics with intentions to spam your extensions then action will be taken. This does not apply to the forum sections that are devoted to announcing and selling new extensions.

Commercial Development Ethics
-Many users on the forums are in need of a developer to help them with a project. For obvious reasons Open Cart is not involved in what goes on behind closed doors between users and developers. Both the developer and the user have a responsibility to practice their own business sense whereby protecting their assets.
If you are a developer on this forum it is suggested that you practice good work ethic when dealing with potential customers. How you do this is your business. If you are a user on this forum it is suggested that you practice good work ethic when dealing with potential developers. How you do this is your business as well. Again, if there is exploiting going on between either party, Open Cart will not get involved because it is purely your responsibility to protect your assets. However, users have been banned from the forum that were proven to be taking advantage of developers and vice-verse. There is no "department" that deals with this per say, but trust me when I say...there are eyes in the sky.

Advice:
- Don't go with a developer just because "they are cheaper than everyone else." Even though there are excellent developers out there that have ridiculously low prices, they are hard to come by and its doubtful you will find one in this forum.
- Be weary of people that spam the forum with 20 posts that state the same thing with a link to their website, attempting to solicit work. I said "be weary" I did not say "avoid" these people.
- Look for things such as "number of posts". How regular are they in the forums? And if they have created any extensions in the Open Cart Store, at least here you can see the ratings of their extensions. (This is by no means a requirement for someone to be legit, it just helps.)
- Perhaps if the project is large enough to warrant it then ask for examples of their work. This may not be necessary depending upon the size and budget of your project.

General Rule Of Thumb: To make money we have to spend money. Both parties are taking a risk when taking on commercial work. It's no secret and nothing new....where it has been done this way for eons. Good luck!

-As Open Cart becomes more popular with that comes more forum posts per day. Please be patient when posting a topic. Sometimes posts fall through the cracks or get delayed due to the actual topic or the number of people able to answer it. It "will" eventually be answered. As mention in Q's post http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=51672 it won't speed the process up by messaging moderators for help.

What happen to my post?


It seems that some user have serious problem understanding the structure of Opencart forum. So here is a short description of what each forum should contain..

Opencart its divided in 8 very distinct sections:

GENERAL
Not for asking for support or report bug or for other language than English

Opencart 3.0+ Support
Not for General Discussion or Opencart version 2.0+, 1.5+ or other language than English

Opencart Cloud Support
Not for General Discussion unless related to the Opencart Cloud or other language than English

Opencart 2.0+ Support
Not for General Discussion or Opencart version 3.0+, 1.5+ or other language than English

Opencart 1.5+ Support
Not for General Discussion or Opencart version 3.0+, 2.0+ or other language than English

Development
Please, just read each forum description and stick to the topic if you can

Forum (International Forums)
Opencart for all other languages. Please note that sometime the moderator for that particular language is not online, and therefore it could take a bit longer for your post to be approved. No need to post over and over again the same post... Give us the chance to get there...

Other
Again just read each forum description and try to stick to the topic if you can

Here it is a final reminder of how it works:

You are encourage to post in the correct section/area/language of the forum, so that other members can easily find your post and possibly help you out with the solution. Again as mentioned several times before the more details you can provide the shorter the thread will be.

When you post in the wrong section, using the wrong language or not giving enough details, you are NOT just making our job harder as we need to move the post in the right section and try to guess what the problem really is, you are also taking precious times away from our support team, where this time could be otherwise used to answer your actual post...

Same thing apply to members that decide to use the English section of the forum to post in their own language instead of using the proper nationality forum

Finally if you are not sure it is a bug, don't post it in the Bugs Report section. Just post it in the General Support for your Opencart version and if it is a bug one of our moderator will move the post for you. It will be a lot quicker this way as the majority of the times is not a bug but a simple user mistake

All the above adds up to a huge waste of time and frankly it could be easily avoided.

From now on posts that are posted in the wrong section and they are not an honest mistake will be deleted!

Several members have asked for this before, but it seem that nobody really took notice...
I'm talking about You, "the forum member", letting other people know what version of OC you are using and if your OC is Standard or modified!
We have few good members on here that usually take the time to answer as many post as they can, but unfortunately most of this time seem waisted and consume unnecessary always just to find out what version of OC and any other details that could be relevant in solving your queries..

So if you are one of those User that is asking for help, from now on, we are asking YOU, to provide a minimum set of info in your post regarding your OC version, theme used (if any) and/or Mods/Extension used and possibly related to your problem!
Now, if you think about it, this is also to show some respect to those members that take their own time to help you for free!
This is just a suggested form for your post:

Is it a single or multistore setup?

If required:
When requesting technical support for Opencart integrations with an Application Programming Interface (API), the application must include the link to the extension or to the official vendor/host API documentation.

If you know how/where, it would also help attaching the error_log file (the relevant part) to your post, but remember to remove any sensitive data from it before posting it. If not sure, just wait for a member to instruct you on the correct procedure.

If you don't provide any relevant information's and just post a question, I'm afraid your new post shall be binned!
No exceptions!
Finally another little gesture of gratitude, would be to "Thanks" the member that helped you, fixing the problem and to edit your post title and adding the word [SOLVED], so that again the members don't keep coming back to the same posts.
We'll leave that to your good manners...

Regarding the International Forums, all Moderators/Members that do speak another language are encourage to let their members know of this change...
