Hi, I uploaded the admin and system folders plus the vqmod file but I can't change the permissions. The -'tool/export' isn't showing up in Admin permission Lists. What should I do to set the permissions? Thank you.

and overinstalled it on my server, it seems to work, so far!? I had to enlarge the:
memory_limit = 640M;
in both of the php.ini as well as enlarging the Server Settings to the same amount on memory.
I will test my 15'000 Demo Product DB EXPORT tomorrow...
Here the Mods:

UPDATE. Ended up in an Error..., it finally only downloaded an Error-Message File...
So, read the following page:

I just downloaded the latest version 'opencart-1-5-1-to-1-5-6-x-export-import-multilingual-2-24.zip'
the FORMERLY MISSING Export/Import Tool (V2.23) Controller File now exists.
Importing data has not been tested, Export now works well, but a 15K Product Listing requires a lot of time to be sampled and delievered to the PC. So, be patient...

it's a good Job - done, one just has to find out about all the options, what they mean and how they work

You're awesome! I'm going to trying uploading the most recent file as you suggest. I have a modified opencart interface (http://themeforest.net/item/stowear-mod ... me/7494228) and was concerned this is what may be causing the problem. The theme is very customized. Thanks so much for your kind time and attention! Laura.

I hope you can guide me also in the right direction. I have an existing OC-1564 store with about 250 products running in the root of my server(http://www.mysite.in).
Now I want to just test out 2-3 new OC themes so I have loaded OC-1564 in 3 sub dirs called http://www.mysite.in/demo11, http://www.mysite.in/demo12 and http://www.mysite.in/demo13 and I want to upload all my existing product from the first store to these 3 new installations.
I have done the sql backup using myphpadmin as suggested here so now my issue is that how do I load the existing database to these 3 installs as the username and password are different of the databases so how to install the database to the new carts please advise.
Thank you.

1. I have one site (WEBSITE 1) that it is used and in working order at one host. It is operational and up so we want to keep it that way.
2. I have another site (WEBSITE 2) that I am building at other host so I want to copy the products, attributes, customers, orders, to this site that we building.
3. Does this extension copies files? I want to make sure that since I do not want to interrupt the operational site in any way.
Sorry maybe silly question but I rather ask first before destroy something while downloading. Thanks,
Set this, delete and reinstall the module and you should find that it is now there.
Sorry for delay, I somehow skipped this, it did not longer show up in my Mails.sunsys wrote:Now I want to just test out 2-3 new OC themes so I have loaded OC-1564 in 3 sub dirs called http://www.mysite.in/demo11, http://www.mysite.in/demo12 and http://www.mysite.in/demo13 and I want to upload all my existing product from the first store to these 3 new installations.
I don't really understand, why you install different shop Themes in different Shops, but anyway, you could use the same DB-values, defined in the config.php file DB-Section of your first shop. , as long as you do NOT add Mod's, in one of them, ADDING anything to the DB, unable to ba handled by the other test shops.
But you could also COPY/EXPORT the entire Content of your existing DB, and re-import it into a CLEANED OUT DB, created for the other Shops, by use of your MySql-Admin. You THEN also have to MOVE the images, used in the first shop, to the other shops, in order to have a correct Setup.
BUT TO AVOID such work, you could check my Front Page of:
http://www.bigmax.ch/shop/
and read about SUBDOMAIN IMAGE HOSTING, by clicking the link to it. Then, you will not only have a faster loading Shop, you also don't have to repeatetly fill up your Server with the same images, all over.
Check here about more info on the v.1.5.6.x Verions ways of doing it...

1. When testing a new theme on clean install of OC-1564, should I first upload all the data(method as suggested by you) and then install the theme or is it the other way round that I install the theme first and then upload all the data. Which is the correct way of doing it ?
2. Is it possible to uninstall a theme or what, cause I see that themes are huge in size and do a lot of core changes so can I revert back to clean OC or do I just delete the complete OC install and upload a new OC for testing.
IP_CAM wrote:...why you install different shop Themes in different Shops
I just want to see how different themes will look side by side that's all.
I did not quite follow this line, what do mean by " add Mod's" ?IP_CAM wrote:...as long as you do NOT add Mod's, in one of them, ADDING anything to the DB, unable to ba handled by the other test shops.
When I do a backup using myphpadmin, will the images also not get backed up automatically ?IP_CAM wrote:You THEN also have to MOVE the images, used in the first shop, to the other shops, in order to have a correct Setup.

Therefore, your answer cannot be replied to, it depends....!
Uninstallation is exactly the same, if a Theme ONLY contains SUBS and FILES for/in such a SUB:
then, you just remove the entire adefault2 Subdirectory with all it's subs and files, and it's done. Basically, because usually, in the Admin Image section, a thumb of the Theme will stay, if you don't remove it manually.C:\JTI_Servers\bigmax.ch\shop\catalog\view\theme\adefault2
Other Themes, actually adding some Files into Controller/Model/Language/System/VqMod/e.t.c./ Sections, Admin included, even, in Part, replacing existing DEFAULT files, are much more difficult to handle. One has to compare exactly, by use of the File-content of the CUSTOM THEME, what has to be removed where. And, before even doing such a THEME UPLOAD, one has to make SURE, not uploading something, thereby eventually overwriting existing Default Files, without making a Backup first!!
>> I did not quite follow this line, what do mean by " add Mod's" ? <<
A Mod can be Anything, added in any form, to OC, like a VqMod, a Module, like a Theme, anything, not already existing, by Default, affecting something, visible or invisible, somewhere. Anything!
>> When I do a backup using myphpadmin, will the images also not get backed up automatically ? <<
MyPHP ist a Database Tool. Imagine a large File, like a regular Page, from #1, down to whatever, containing individually counted masses of single, partly just about never ending, lines, with all the Data, related to your Shop. Each Line has it's individual purpose, contains it's individual 'Information Content'. As Data, actually written as/like regular Numbers and Text. The Content is Section-Sorted, and Sub-sorted, explained and clearly presented, at least on the printout.
As an example on how much it takes, for a DB, eliminating JUST all Countries+State related lines, exept for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, reduced the (new, default) DB-Size by ~4'200 such lines, from ~820 down to less than 300 KB File size! That's efficienty, in the later, heavier turn, possibly to come...

Image Links are linked, starting from the configured INDSIDE URL, (call it path, if you like) so, not 'fully' externally HTTP-adressed, so, when called from another URL, the Shop would then look for the image inside it's own Site URL, and so produce an image not found error.
Exept, if you use the Mod to call all images from one only Image.subdomain, all so AS HTTP ADRESSED Images. This makes great sense, the 'multitasking' Download functions of Browsers enable much faster Page Loads, this way, for ANY SITE. Basically, this should be installed by default on OC. Or, at least as default Image-Turbo-OPTION!

Images are individual DATA Files, the DB has no influence to/on their existence, it just remembers/reflects their 'told to be there' position, It cannot even check for 'em, it's just a piece of Paper with written information on it

And just to complete it: Some Themes MAY modify your DB. Possibly in a Way, you don't like. Because, when coming back, you will have to work, to make it, as it has been before. This seems to be the Case, especially, with some popular, paid Themes, offered for free on some Sites. And since no Rules exist, on the Web, just take Care, whatever you do! You never know, who's watching you...
Ok, I hope it helps!
Ernie
PS: Just BACKUP FIRST, in FULL, before you act, in ANY WAY!

So does this mean that I have to remove all the vqmods that I have running on my site now and then I should do a database backup ?? and then do I install all the vqmods again to the new install.IP_CAM wrote:A Mod can be Anything, added in any form, to OC, like a VqMod, a Module, like a Theme, anything, not already existing, by Default, affecting something, visible or invisible, somewhere. So then how do I do or take a backup of my images ? and what is mysqlbuddy as seen in your image, I do not have that in my cpanel in that case how do I backup my images please advice. One query remained unanswered: what do I do 1st in the new install, restore the database 1st and then apply the new theme or apply theme 1st and then restore the database ?IP_CAM wrote:Image Links are linked, starting from the configured INDSIDE URL, (call it path, if you like) so, not 'fully' externally HTTP-adressed, so, when called from another URL, the Shop would then look for the image inside it's own Site URL, and so produce an image not found error.

You would not have to REMOVE them all, you could just disable them, by Use of one of the VqMod-Tools, available. It, technically, simply add's a '_' to the whatever.xml title, to make it look like whatever.xml_, then, this Mod is switched inactive, in/for OC, and it will display, as DISABLED, in the VqMod Tool as well. And despite of the warning/info, shown, when clicking to disable, it will NOT remove a Mod, or a Module. So, don't worry...

You use your FTP-Client, to DOWNLOAD the entire /image/Section, including it's Sub-sections, then, you have all images on your PC, ready to be uploaded anywhere, again, into the /image -Section.So then how do I do or take a backup of my images ?
and what is mysqlbuddy as seen in your image, I do not have that in my cpanel in that case how do I backup my images please advice.
This Extension linked does NOT ONLY incorporate a VqMod-Manager, called TWEAKS, as well, it also incorporates a SIMPLE DB-Tool, called MySql-Buddy. It's an easy way, but possibly, if you are familiar with a Site MySql-Admin Tool, use it, it's more flexible, compared with an OC Mod-type built-in DB-Manager. BUT BE AWARE: I.E., downloading/exporting/importing a DB by Use of 'mysqlbuddy' can be a complicated, possibly impossible, matter, because of the amount of Server-Memorey used, for such a Task. You should therefore ONLY USE the Site Admin MySql Admin for such Tasks, then, you'll know for sure, that the DB will be 'handled' well!
Still, for a fast simple check, or Mod, I love the Buddy! It's one of those nice Gatchets, the free OpenShop Extension offers. I love it, and build no Shop without it!

After a NEW Installation, you could restore the DB first, to find out, if everything works, by Default. But again, make a copy of the DEFAULT DB. first, always!! Success will depend on Add-On's and Mod's, used before, possibly ADDING some Tables, when installed, in the old Place, and so, eventually, producing some errors, after the MySQL-Admin DB-Restore-Process. Since no 'required' Standards exist, for OC, one never knows, what has been done, to it, by some Mod-Designer, used to do such, it's own, personal, way!

Then, if it works, make a Backup of the new DB as well, and start to activate VqMods, and/or other Module-Additions, on after one, and check everytime, after you installed something, if it really works. If everything functions, install your Custom Theme.
Good Luck

Ok fine so I have got a fair understanding of the way things work or should work. Ernie one last thing, is this principle(1st install > 2nd database > 3rd theme) also valid for big major themes like "Journal - Advanced Opencart Theme" where major changes are done to basic OC I should follow the same principle(1st install > 2nd database > 3rd theme) and everything will go smoothly to the new installation.IP_CAM wrote:Then, if it works, make a Backup of the new DB as well, and start to activate VqMods, and/or other Module-Additions, on after one, and check everytime, after you installed something, if it really works.
