how to increase categories number from 8 to 12

Hello, excuse me for the question and i am newbie in opencart and i am curious to know how is it possible to extend categories number on my top menu default open cart theme from 8 to 12.
I want much more categories to be shown on my main menu categories.
Is it possible how to achieve this goal.
Please advise me.
