Hi,


Firstly, I started using OpenCart (V 1.4.8 ) 2 weeks ago, and am loving it so far; great bit of kit!

I've been using the search function to help with any problems I have come across, and that has been fine, but I have now come across something I couldn't find an answer too - apologies if this has been asked before though.

I am trying to incorporate a "where did you find us" drop down menu field into the checkout process. This is useful for marketing purposes so I can discover how the customer came across the website (from google, or a magazine referral or whatever). I have placed the html for the drop down menu into the theme/default/template/guest_step_1.tpl file. It is appearing fine, situated below the "Your Address" section and above the "check here if you have a separate shipping address" checkbox.

My question is, how would I go about actually being able to track this information? At the moment, when the customer clicks on "continue" to progress to the next section, whatever selection they made is obviously lost. It would be great if one of the following happened upon the customer making thier selection and clicking "continue";

1. the drop down menu selection is sent to my email address.
2. the drop down menu selection appears with the order details in the admin.

Can anyone help with this? I just need some way of tracking it. If the solution involves diving into the code, I have no problems with this.

i have added a new field to the shipping step page in the checkout proccess. maybe that could help you.

Hmmmm, thanks for that mate. Seems to involve rather a lot of code editing!

I'll look into it tomorrow and let you know how I get on!

Yes, i was thinking about the same thing.However i thought also why not have it in the admin/home have a graphical representation like the orders one?
So, anyone with a way to have the 'where did you find us' or can DANIEL please add it in the next edition of OC? Thanks

We also looking for the exact same thing as our client asking to add this on their shopping cart and they wish to have a report or view in admin cp. But I think it is best to add this field on customer sign up page.
