you can define default paths in the config.php files either in the root for front end or inside admin folder for backend.

I dont think there is anything else you need to do (someone can correct me)

Question, there are different types of barcodes for specific countries and types i believe, do you have the ability to change the type of barcode generated based on which one you require?

more info for this can be found here, for your reference http://www.mecsw.com/specs/speclist.html

Since 3 of 9 will code virtually all keyboard characters, that is by far the best choice.

Reading UPC, EAN or ISBN is no problem, but printing them will need drivers.

As far as by country, only their own postal codes are national.

Code 3 of 9 is an ideal code for general use.

During the 1990s I was selling point of sale and other systems that used bar codes for all sorts of things, including factory assembly, etc.

I had my business cards with my name in 3 of 9 in the middle of the card, with the letters below. Made an impression.

I was refering more so to cash registers to be honest.

I used to own a record shop, and the best way for my staff to log new stock was to use the barcode scanner to input the stock levels straight into the register.

As far as i know, not all registers can use all types of bar codes, therefore a selection of options would benifit people for these reasons.

Its a nice idea for a barcode generator on the site so the shop could, if they wish, print off a stock report with barcodes so they are able to update stock levels in their shop at the same time. saves alot of time doing a manual stock check.
