What is the purpose of SEO friendly URL? can anyone explain.

I'm kinde new to this SEO, but I think I have mine all setup, but how can you tell if all is working or not? I see no changes after keywords, enable the SEO friendly URL..

joaoj:

You are using the "SEO Keyword" text input box under the "Data" tab of a Product, right? Not the "Meta Tag Keywords" under the general tab?

If you are putting the URLs name/keywords into the correct place, you have renamed htaccess.txt to .htaccess, and you have SEO urls turned on then I think it should be working.

Some benefits include:

1. Easy to read URLs for customers
2. Keywords for page are included in URL

I heart cmd-f, cmd-c, cmd-v, cmd-z + vQmod.
My favourite page...

Hi,

I have followed everything as you explained but still am getting 404 error page when i clicked category or product. Only home page working properly. I have done the following steps.

1. changed Use SEO URL's to yes
2. i have changed .htaccess.txt to .htacces means created htaccess file.

But i am getting 404 error. What i need to do?

Thanks Inadvance.
