Hello All,

I am new to OpenCart and had a question. I've installed a fresh copy of OpenCart and all is well. I looked in the admin under "Extensions" and looked under "modules" and "payment" and there isn't anything there! When I do a test purchase, it takes you to PayPal and says "webmaster@opencart.com" in the header and "Cancel and return to webmaster@opencart.com." at the bottom... I've added my email address in the admin under "configuration/settings/mail, but I don't see any reference to paypal anywhere in the admin!... ( I also uploaded the "improved" paypal.php file, but still no reference to PayPal in the "Extensions" area... )

help! ???

I would be surprised if all is well from the default install at the moment. You should have paypal and cod installed by default but since not...

Go to extensions/payment then click insert

* Code: paypal
* Directory: payment
* Filename: paypal.php
* Controller:    payment_paypal

I have attached a zip of the almost released version of paypal improved to an email. If you have the same success as others who have used it, I will release it to the contributions area.

cheers

Hmm. Is this possibly related to the whole "&type=" vs "&type=" in the address bar? There should be at least the 2 default payment options. Take a look at your address bar when on the extension->payment page. and see if you see:

http://mysite.com/admin/index.php?controller=extension&type=payment - this is good
or
http://mysite.com/admin/index.php?controller=extension&type=payment - this is bad

if you see the latter, try editing the address to remove the "amp;" part and leave only the "&". There is a fix on the forums for that, or get the latest SVN version

-EDIT-
Looks like someone else was also having this problem today on another thread:

Hey there,

Yes, that was me... I asked the same question in two areas because I didn't know what was causing it, the actual PayPal extension, or something with the install... Thanks guys. I did the fix recommended in the other thread and it did work ( it was the &amp issue )...

Although, I still don't know why is says "webmaster@opencart.com" as the seller...?? How do I get the PayPal extension to actually go to my PayPal account? thanks again guys...

In the Extension->Payment screen, click the "wrench" icon to set your paypal address.

RRRGGG! I'm losing hope on this OpenCart... I set up the PayPal ( after fixing the "&" vs "&" bug where no extensions were showing up )

Now I am getting an error when I try to do a test purchase! After I click "Checkout" I get this...

"Fatal error: Call to undefined method Response::get() in /home/myweb/public_html/mysite/store/catalog/extension/payment/paypal.php on line 31"

!!?? help! Doe's anyone around here actually have a successful running cart!? I am always running into "bugs" that I have to keep looking through the forum for "fixes"... is OpenCart still in Beta? why so many bugs right after downloading the latest version??

I am also getting the "Tax" issue where it is adding the tax to the price of the product, so the products are all priced with "tax included". I can't seem to get it to show the tax as an additional charge on the checkout area. I've read through the forum, but I've seen all kinds of "fixes" and people with varying results.

Is OpenCart really ready to be used as an actual running store yet?

Ok OK take it easy.

First, OpenCart is verson 0.7.8... its not even version 1.0 yet. So yes its beta and there are lots of fixes that have been made and still need to be made.

Second, be sure you get the latest SVN version from http://code.google.com/p/open-cart/source/checkout
You will need a SVN checkout utility like TortoiseSVN. Or just wait for v0.7.9 which should be coming out soon with any luck. There are over 100 bugfixes there.

Now, the paypal error is a known issue and you can simply search these forums for the answer:
http://forum.opencart.com/index.php/topic,1854.0.html - See the last post for the reason. Not sure if bruce has posted the actual fix for it anywhere.

You should also probably look at using the "Paypal Improved" contribution to replace the default paypal version as it has some better handling.

OpenCart is brilliantly designed and is on its way to becoming a big boy.. but it still needs to mature a bit and we are working on improving it and working to get a very stable and feature-rich cart. Patience is needed.
