Hi Everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with our site - we’re using OpenCart Version 3.0.3.2.

While I was adding products in the admin backend, everything suddenly disappeared when I navigated to another page.

The frontend of the site still appears to be working fine, but the entire admin backend is no longer visible (please see attached image). When I click on Dashboard there's no content and the same for Reports.

I have a active order I need to fulfil but can't see the details.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Thank you.

Check both your OpenCart and PHP error logs.

You could also check the permissions in the oc_user_group table in the database.

Is there anyother Super admin user who could make changes to the permissions settings?

Or is there anyother developer or someone who is working on the site with database.

Can you tell us what exactly you were doing (the steps) when you encountered this issue.

I'm the only person with super admin access, and I’m the only one who makes updates to the site.

At the time, I duplicated a few products, updated their images and descriptions, and saved them (the products appear correctly on the front end). I then tried to access the Modules section to update a module and change the featured items on the homepage, a blank page loaded. Now, every time I log in, that same blank page continues to load.

When I try to access other backend pages through my browser history, I get the following error message:
"Permission Denied! You do not have permission to access this page, please refer to your system administrator."

I'm very much a novice just trying to keep our family business running, so I’m not entirely sure what to check when it comes to database permissions. Any guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated!

As long as I am working with OpenCart (and that are many years ..), created several hundreds of stores for clients, never had such a behaviour.

We have here a "policy" for posting new issues.
You should read it: viewtopic.php?t=200480 and continue posting with the required answers.
What you have provided until now with details, encourage nobody here to help you further.
Because if missing important details, it makes no sense to answer.

From what I can say, a site build with OpenCart does not change suddenly the functions as you are describing.

It's not the database permissions but the oc_user_group table in the database that contains the OpenCart permissions. You would need to check the table, which can be done with phpMyAdmin if your hosting has it. If the problem is there, you may need to restore that table from a backup of clean install.

There are posts on ho2 to do it on this forum if you search or you could post in the Commercial Support section.

Blank page mean is Error 500, which could lead to anything , you have to check your server logs/Php logs for this if you don't have access to this you need to ask your host to tail the errors

Just to clarify by blank page, I mean the admin portal loads after logging in but there is no content on the dashboard (please see image below) and every other page accessed (via browser history) says: Access Denied.

My web host was able to restore the database to a few days before the issue occurred and the admin backend performed correctly after the restoration. As mentioned the original issue developed when we updated a product on the site and after the restoration we updated a few products to test out the backend and the same issue reappeared (different products in both instances).

Does anyone know if it's something to do with a database issue or a capacity issue or a storage issue? We've never encountered this problem before.

If could be a database issue, but it could also be an issue with your site such as an extension. You would only know by looking into what is happening.

If you're running a live ecommerce site you should probably have a freelance developer or company on hand to help when stuff like this goes wrong.

Really, I hate to repeat myself, but: viewtopic.php?p=880312&sid=110704f8944e ... c3#p880230

As long as you do not provide all required infos, nobody is able to help you nor willing to do so!

Just one tip finally: if I would be you, I would create a new instance (from the beginning with a new installation from scratch) of the shop in a subfolder, another folder or server.
And then adding one element after one, performing the same action(s) so long until you can reproduce this "accident".

From the information provided which is limited something is removing your administrative permissions.

You ask the wrong questions because this is a database issue since the permissions are in the database - but how does that help you ? Since the issue is resolved By restoring from a backup - thus restored permissions - you have a date to work from and between those dates you did something, someone else did something or you have been hacked .. the cause - according to you -appears to be related to saving a product. Theoretically and logically this would be a modification to products .. but it could be a rogue extension related to something else entirely that is written badly - or a hack and before you say the restore should have deleted that - no it could have been there for months or years and been on a delay ..

As with all of these things you have choices which are repeated often on the forum.
1. Disable all modifications and enable one by one until you find the issue.
2. Disable all events and enable one by one until you find the issue.
3. Hire a developer to take a look.

The issue is not opencart so you need to look somewhere else .. like whatever you installed onto Opencart or copied and pasted from the internet and edited core files .. or or or ..

DISCLAIMER:
You should not modify core files .. if you would like to donate a cup of coffee I will write it in a modification for you.
