My site has been bombarded with bots for many months. I have tried all kinds of free "fixes" found on this forum and others, and none seem to fix the issue. I even reach out to JNeuhoff for some tips and they helped, but the site slows down and becomes unresponsive with many fatal errors logged on the server. Also, the CPU resources spike at 200%. I am lucky the host is a friend of mine, else I'd be looking for a new host, probably with the same bot issue following my site.
In looking in the Opencart Marketplace, I found a possible solution from Knowband at https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=36443.
I purchased it on March 31, 2025. It was an easy install. But within days, I noticed there was no pagination on several tabs. So if I added more than 20 IP's, only the first 20 lines were seen and the remainder were "hidden". I contacted the developer only to be told "that is not an issue" as nobody else has reported such. I was able to show them on their demo site of the issue, then to be told "we will fix it within the first week of next month". So I waited until the end of the first week of the next month (May), to be told to wait again and it will be fixed "by the end of the first week of next month" being June. Ok, I waited and then they sent this to me on June 12:
We would like to inform you that we are working on other module development & the same is not in our priority list. In case you are facing an issue on your store, then we can resolve the same on your store only, but a new build is currently not possible till the end of this month. If you can wait, you can wait till the end of this month, or you can share your store details to fix the issues instantly on your store.
All the time, they were demanding FTP and admin access to "fix" the issue. I kept telling them the issue is not on my site, and to "fix your demo". I refused many times to give them any access to my site, as the issue was in their code, as I showed them in their demo site.
Then when asked if it was compatible with PHP 8.3, knowing it wasn't, as I had another developer that was doing work on my site "fix" the PHP warnings. They know very well it is not compatible, yet was totally dishonest with the response.
The tab that did have pagination installed was not functioning proper. If you sort a column and go to page 2, it appears all out of order in a random matter. Totally unusable.
They only offer 3 moths support, which is almost expired and nothing was done. Well, the only thing they do is to update the "last update" every few days, with nothing done to the download package, still from 6 months ago. Totally dishonest. I guess doing that to the "last updated" date, is so it will appear in the search on top?
Another major issue is this: https://opencartdemo.knowband.com/3.0/b ... uct_id=600. When a one-off item is sold on my site, the item is disabled. It that proper to show a customer "YOU HAVE BEEN BLOCKED" when they did nothing wrong. Not very good for any repeat business from that customer. Knowband said that is not an issue and wanted to charge me to fix it. Really?
Now its been over 60 days of them delaying, and I am out of the 60 day refund period? REALLY?
I informed them that I removed their code from my server weeks ago and they had the nerve to say I am still running it.
LET THE BUYER BEWARE OF KNOWBAND
