I could be wrong, but in a nutshell, you only purchase the right to use the extension/Mods. So in reality, you don't own the actual piece of software...
Maybe a small difference, but that, is what it keeps the wheels spinning...

Your extension/module has probably a key or some other form of encrypted ID linked to your email, IP or customer name, so the next person woudn't be able to use it or access support if required... If you bought it and use it, think of it as paying rent for using something that dosn't belong to you.
Selling something that doesn't belong to you is called theft in most country in the world...

You seem like an honest person as you actually did bother to ask for permission... Don't go down the wrong path while ruining it for everybody else as well... Piracy in the end, is a crime we all pay for, no matter how small...

In opensource there is forking, i am not to sure how saling works I believe it would depend on its License.
Also if code is changed at a curtain % i believe it can be claimed as new.. that % may very in differnt countries.
