Hi,
I have been asked to integrate Paypal and Google checkout into a website for a client. I think I have paypal working, I just hope it works because all I had to do was install it and enter the person's email address, seemed very simple.
Anyway, I have installed the Google Checkout extension and it asks for a 'Merchant ID' and a 'Merchant Key'. I asked the client to log into their google checkout account and pass these details onto me so that I can enter them, but he only had a Merchant ID. How can he get hold of the Merchant Key, and what is it for?
I have never used Google checkout before so if someone wouldn't mind explaining how it actually works with my website, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Its a pain in the reer end getting the Merchant Key. Its in the Developer Settings thing that is if you are testing it out. I think they must pay for it though it they are using it elsewhere. With regards to the paypal issue you will probably hit a bump as many are.

So do I need to tell them to go into a Developer Settings tab and look for it there? They want a fully functional e-commerce website and for customers to be able to pay through google checkout so they want to do more than test it out. It would probably be easier for me if they gave me their account details and let me look into it all but I doubt they want me logging on their account.
What bump will I probably be hitting? I have gone through the checkout process of my website and selected paypal etc...then it links me to his Paypal account fine and asks me to log in to pay the person £££, so it seems as though it is working OK?
Thanks.
Ok with regards to the pay pal module see my post on the forum its just up. On 1.4.8b mine and I think other peoples as well is having problem posting back a successful Order insted it places it in a Missing Orders Pile. I hope someone can help us both with this one.
Google Checkout is a maze to find settings I think in the Developer tab it also gives you a live merchant key to work with.

As regards Google Checkout:
You can find the merchant key by logging into your Google Checkout seller account (http://checkout.google.com/sell/) and looking it up at Setting > Integration.
Please note that the Google Checkout module at the moment is for OpenCart 1.4.7, I am in the process of upgrading it to OpenCart 1.4.8b in the coming days.
Also, unlike the other payment modules, Google Checkout is a completely independent checkout process, the customer is not be required to log into his Opencart account. The order processing and fulfillment is done through the Google Checkout seller account, not through Opencart's admin backend.

I read that I needed to look in setting > integration in the install.txt file that comes with the extensions, but when I asked the client to look there he could only see a Merchant ID.
Ok thanks. I am using Opencart version 1.4.7, so should Paypal be ok with this version or will it have the same problem?deanalewis wrote:Ok with regards to the pay pal module see my post on the forum its just up. whatever version you are using paypal should work just fine. Hundreds of people have no problem with it. I've only seen the one thread with problems so I wouldn't concern yourself unless you actually do run into a problem.
