please give us simple direct upload dialog box instead of current import session where I have to search the right imported image among 1000 others!!! this is the biggest waste of time! The current image import system should be optional for some situations but as default the simple direct upload box is much faster anytime.

You should be able to upload to subfolders

image/data/a/
image/data/b/
image/data/c/
image/data/d/

And make sure you images have a clear name instead of:

1289.jpg
1290.jpg

etc. etc.

when you have 3000 products, how many folders you need to make thing faster? uploading into folders is not solution!!!

The best possible way would be:

- direct upload image within the new product insert procedure - using simple upload dialog
- open cart should then make automatic image structure with the same structure as your categories/subcategories/products structure

My images have clear names BUT: when you have more images in the folder, this does not help you because you need to find the right image even with right name among others AND in the folder there is no alphabetical arrangement of images. I do not understand the arrangement system inside image folder because when I have more images (f.a. 100) there are several alphabetical subgroups from A-Z in the folder but this alphabetical system does not work for whole folder

now I have about 300 products in 3 image folders and it is night mare finding the right image. What will I do in two weeks with 1500 products... ???

hmm, at least for now, before you upload 1500 product, you need good documentation on your own products and images.
i'm sure right now your issue is considered, but may be not solved for now.
on next release may be an independent "image manager" will included (hope so)

We actually replaced the simple single-file upload with the filemanager because people complained for the opposite reasons. I do agree tho, I like a simple method myself.

Hello all!

Well option switching between simple upload and current upload would be great.

But here's another thing I can not find; is there any possibility to have categories (folders) in expanded view instead like they are right now - in contract view.

I already mentioned this problem in the long Feedback thread (before we went to individual threads).

The short-term fix for this is simple: After a file is uploaded, the program should display the images by date with the most recently uploaded file at the top. That way, the merchant doesn't have to go on a long search for the image that he or she just uploaded. Of course, there would have to be an option to sort the images by file name.

I have only 670 images uploaded now, and I am already feeling frustrated. By the time I get all my items transferred to the new cart, I'll have 2200 images in the cart and I'll be tearing out my hair like Poshook is.

+1 vote for this extremely good idea. And

... I'd also like to show the expanded folder view. Thanks!

Poshook and Moggin, I just discovered something that might be helpful to you -- it will certainly be helpful to me. This works in both FireFox and Internet Explorer.

You can search for the image name. Thus, if I upload an image entitled G557.jpg, all I have to do is to press Ctrl-F and type G557 to find the image I just uploaded. Of course, this works best if you have simple file names. In my case, G557 represents the item number (or "model", as OC calls it); G557.jpg is the large picture, and G557t.jpg is the thumbnail picture. It just never occurred to me to try searching.

Of course, having the last-uploaded images at the top is easier than searching, but searching is certainly easier than manually trying to find an image using a mouse.

If you don't have model names or numbers as short as mine, perhaps you could name your images by the SKU number.

But there is one other problem with Image Manager: If you have hundreds or thousands of images loaded, it can take minutes for them all to show.

Yes, but I don't want this to become the "solution". The Image Manager needs to be sortable by date as well as file name, just like any file list in Windows. Having said that, I can't believe that I didn't think of this before.

No I can appreciate the dilemma you're facing. I can also see why the image uploader is employed in the first place. It can be very useful at times, especially for those smaller stores

Perhaps a setting in the back end where you can choose between the two methods of upload. I'm sure it wouldn't be all that hard to implement. Another solution would be a "Upload and select" button that would do the work for you. No sorting needed, and no browsing to find the file

Well is that what people want? A normal file upload box and next to it have the filemanager button so you can choose to either upload fresh or browse the normal manager? That can be done pretty easily.
