[SOLVED] List of categories not showing all when adding new

So just setting up the categories on my new install and found a problem. Did a search but couldn't find anything about it so apologies if i am duplicating.
I have 9 parent categories and need several categories below each.
I created a category but when i click the "parent" box to choose the parent category only 5 are showing.
Is this a bug or am i missing something?
Is there a way to do this in the database direct? Not done much with databases so nothing too hard please :-)
