Downloads Issue with Files

Hello, I'm having a problem with establishing downloadable products and hope I'm posting in the correct section of the Forum
I have experience with Zen Cart but I'm compelety new to OpenCart. Things are a little different and I'm having issues with downloadable product creation!
About my Issue:
I sell Video Courses and have FTP'd some .zip files over to the system/storage/download folder (where they should be if not mistaken...).
I'm having a problem trying to create the downloadable products in OpenCart Admin... If I go to Downloads from the store's Admin menu.. click on that and I see nothing in there... so, I tried to enter the file name info using the "Add New" button in that section and when I enter the a .zip file name to get a "mask" etc... and it's not finding/reading the files I sent to the downlad folder.. I know the files are in there but I'm obviously doing something wrong with thos step. I honestly have no idea what I am doing wrong I'm a bit confused as to how I should go about this.

In the Admin panel, under Catalog > Downloads, I tried to add a new download but it's not recognizing the files. I know they are there but I'm missing something. Can anyone help me with this step? Try uploading a small file such as a jpg or gif via the admin panel and see if that gets recognized. Try it zipped and unzipped.
