Hello all

As our store has grown over the years we now have many things that could come up due to names. Is there any known extension or adjustment to allow us to adjust search parameter results? Here is an example of the issue and what I am trying to correct:

I have a product of costumes. One costume is a rat. When someone uses the opencart search and types "Rat" it pulls up anything with "r a t" in it. Even if it's in description, etc. To some extent that is fine, but at minimum I would want the actual word RAT to be listed first in results. Right now it could be 10 items deep that have nothing to do with a "rat".

Is this fixable? A setting perhaps? If not, any idea on where/how to resolve?

Thanks

No opencart version or template or extension info posted but searching in the description isn't done by default so something has changed that behavior. Also the built in search isn't all that good but there are a lot of extensions that can make different changes from a complete replacement of the search function to making it search different field. I would recommend you figure out what the change is that made it search in the description as it also may have made other changes that made it provide more results.

Smart Search lets you turn off partial word matching, so if someone searched for "rat" it would only show them products with that full word in it. It also has a bunch of other features to help improve search result accuracy.

Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site, and if you're interested let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any questions.
