I've said several times. Maybe it's time the Journal team created their own system and called it something like JournalCart or Journal Ecommerce. With the Journal theme package installed it's not Opencart anymore. Presenting it as an "Opencart theme" causes too many problems for the inexperienced OC user.

I disagree, as all though the front end appearance change and the backend interface for configuring it is comprehensive , it can still work with OC addons that dont clash and im guessing 90% of model/system code and admin interface is used as is. Also despite what one of the comments previously stated, my install overwrote no files. It is really just a theme in the common/modern sense but not in the traditional 1.5/2.x days sense. This addon pushes the boundaries of what OC is capable of and i think that can be a useful thing, and the fact that it is paid gives it the resources to still be actively developed and gone through several rewrites, compare with most addons that just die. I agree that a new term would be better than just theme though.

Well, the main problem is, that many Journal Users are are most likely not registered Journal Customers, they downloaded the Code from some Places, and then come here to ask for Help, if they run into Problems. But it cannot be the Purpose of this Forum, to assist such Individuals, that should just be understood. Journal itself never added it's Code to OC's Extension Section, and so never added to OC's Prosperity, so, there is no Reason, to support their Code in any Way, especially not for free.

In addition to the above, there are no necessity to build a workaround engine for a theme. OC can pretty much handle contributed custom themes especially with the use of Events when it comes out of the box for a new theme.

Dedication and passion goes to those who are able to push and merge a project.

@IP_CAM i agree, you cant be expected to know a system or code you dont have access to, also when you buy Journal you get support included so that should be your support. There is no free option either so not sure how people could be downloading it elsewhere and then coming here for support unless its pirated in which case we definitely shouldn't be expected to support it. Being paid only with no demo I can see why its not in OC marketplace to download.

This is not a support for journal thread, just discussion about the mod. I think its a bit of a stretch to try and suggest discussion about a mod for opencart should be blocked here.

Do whatever you like with pleasure.
This is a forum for Opencart and as you have quite correctly pointed out Journal is not on Opencart

It is so boring to have this theme rammed down your throat all day every day - start your own forum for all we care - just leave us be -
That is a reasonable request. No one wants this discussion here - it is always the same irrelevant arguments and the bottom line, which you yourself have explained perfectly, It has nothing to do with opencart and this is an opencart forum

Full stop - end of - move on

Hi, page builder theme includes numerous CSS-related features. If you have a programming background, you might find that dealing with the code it provides can be counterproductive, even bootstrap can be counterproductive.

Coming back to the original question as to why one should avoid the Journal3 framework:

Just today, I came accross another customer's website using OC 3.0.3.8 with the Journal3 framwork, and I noticed it has some serious bugs in its files at
/catalog/controller/journal3/event/*.php. E.g. it wrongly modifies getProducts() calls, which in OpenCart allow for empty results sets, but not so in Journal3 because the latter uses buggy event handlers.

Personally, I'm very satisfied with Journal, I've now gone through the beta-v32 version, I managed to adapt the template for a real estate agency, I found some bugs, especially in multi-languages, the search box always gives the result in English... it's also complicated to manage the pages, but I have to admit that I haven't found any alternative templates of this quality,
My OC-Journal website is https://gethouseportugal.com
Best regards,

There are loads of better-quality and nicer-looking themes available for OpenCart.

Be aware Journal3 is more like a different framework than a proper theme, with quite a number of bugs and poor software engineering under the hood. So are you just looking into a theme, or other functionalities? For Journal related issues you have to contact their own support.
