I've recently installed a clean copy of 4.0.2.2 after several attempts of trying to upgrading from 3.0... All I was getting was PHP errors. The old version appeared to be working fine for months until I went in today and updated some products. That's when I noticed some products were loading while others were giving a 404 error. Everything looked fine on the backend and I had made no changes for months. I'm using GoDaddy for hosting and they can't figure it out either. Anyway, I decided to just go with the new version since I was apparently going to troubleshooting anyway. In addition, I ensured that I followed all of the steps for the new set up to the letter. I also made sure PHP was at version 8.
I can get into the admin panel and set things up. However, the storefront is just a white screen. The admin log provides the following errors. No errors appear on the white screen even with "error display" turned on in the PHP side.

Any idea why my store won't load?? I was getting similar errors with the upgrade as well. I don't know how to fix this problem and I need my store back up and running.
The error message is telling you that OpenCart can't connect to the database. Check your database settings in config.php and admin/config.php.
this is the answer I needed, I made an edit to my server and ever domain and sub-domain stopped working and after about an hour I found the answer but before I found the fix I changed the database user name and lost connection to the database.
I had to change both config files
/admin/config.php
config.php
Thank you
