When you hit "add to cart" from the compare page, then you will need to refresh the page to see the new cart total.
My site is oc 4.0.1.1 on php 8.1
It also happens on the opencart.com demo
Try it with OpenCart 4.0.2.1, and if you still can replicate this issue, then please post a bug report at https://github.com/opencart/opencart/issues
