Hi,

I'm hoping that y'all can help me figure this out..

I have 1 product, let's say it's a shirt.

That shirt has 4 different colors that can appear on a small piece of it.

I want the ability to have a different model/inventory/sku/whatever-it's-called number for each of those options, but without adding each color as a separate product. I've tried splitting the colors up like this, but customers apparently hate that method haha.

To the customer, they are just options for that shirt. To me, they need to be different model/inventory/sku numbers.

Is there any way to do this within the current OpenCart software? I know that Daniel (<3) mentions in this thread that he was already working on or finished with something like this, but I wasn't sure how to access it.

Thanks everyone!

You'd have to make quite a few table changes to get this to work really. The stock levels are sorted for the options, is it just that you want or do you need an extra field for the SKU [extension] for each option

Have you thought of creating a sub-category for the shirt, with the category description and category image describing the shirt, and within that category you have 4 products, with each product represented by a simple color image, all on the same page. To the customer it will almost look like regular color options, internally though you just treat them as separate products with all the normal fields included, such as the SKU, quantity, etc.

There is a product sku already. But for option skus, among other features, there is a mod called Options Plus that adds this.

JN's method may also work for you.

Hello,

I would also need to set different sku to all options, and I guess that there a lot of people out there who would really appreciate that this became standard for opencart.

Many of the other open source shopping carts already have this (virtuemart, tomatocart), and adding this feature would make opencart flawless!

Thanks for a great product!

You can add different model for each option value or option value pair using this extension: Option To Product
