[SOLVED] SEO friendly urls not as they were

I have used opencart 2.4 before and have come back after a break and I am finding 3 much more difficult.
I have activated SEO friendly url's in System > Settings. I opened Fizezilla to rename the .htaccess.txt file but there is already a ".htaccess" file there so it wouldn't let me obvs. I have gone into categories and products and added seo friendly url's.

Both are throwing a 404 error. What am I missing?

I deleted the .htaccess file and then renamed the .htaccess.txt to .htaccess

You might need to check with your web host.
