After fresh 2.3.0.2 install and many hours using image manager to create folders and uploading images, I get the error "dstechnologies.com.au says Warning: Directory does not exist!" when I attempt to create a folder or upload an image to certain folders.
I haven't lost any folders nor any images, I just can't add folders nor import images to certain existing folders.
  • I can create a folder in some folders, but can't create a folder in other folders.
  • I can upoad images to some folders, but can't upload an image to other folders.
[I know I've repeated myself a couple times to emphasise the point]

Q: Why can I create a folder within certain folders and not others?
Q: Why can I upload images to certain folders but not to other folders?

It was suggested on other similar threads/posts to check folder attributes, which I did; I tried full write attributes on folders as suggested, but it made no difference.

Any suggestions please...

Many thaks,
David

If not a permission or ownership issue. Do any of the names of your images or folders have characters other than 0-9 or a-z in? Have you asked your host about the issue?

Hi ADD Creative,
Thanks for your response.
If not a permission or ownership issue
I checked through every folder and all have the same attributes/permissions. Not sure how ownership would come into it seen as I'm trying to create/add a folder within another folder within Image Manager.

Do any of the names of your images or folders have characters other than 0-9 or a-z in?
I double checked that all images meet with normal conditions - i.e. Only contain characters 'a-z' or 'A-Z', digits '0-9' and only special characters '-_.' .

Have you asked your host about the issue?
Host says that I have no problem creating subdirectories in any part of my area. He says it must be a OC problem.

It's almost as if there's a limit on how many levels folders can be created in Image Manager.
Does OC place any restrictions on the size of the folder hierarchy? Although in saying that, I have some folders where I can create a subdirectory in subdirectories - so I just answered that question to some degree.

I would appreciate any other suggestions.

David

Making the call that this has been solved isn't quite right.
The problem isn't solved... just not being worked on aymore.
If I put solved in Subject, and someone searching the forum with similar problem, would read this post thinking there is a fix only to discover there is no fix.

That wouldn't be helpful.

Maybe there should be another term that could be used to indicate that the subject is closed but remains unsolved... may be 'CLOSED'.

Just saying.
