Customer group and Category based discount

Hello,
I was looking over some modules from theqdomain and wanted to see if anyone knew of something that may meet my needs or has modified one of these modules to do what I want and could share.

What I am looking for is a way to offer category based discounts that is defined per user group. There is a module I found which allows you to setup sitewide discounts based on customer group: CUSTOMER GROUP DISCOUNT http://theqdomain.com/ocstore/opencart_ ... group_disc

The problem with this for me is that I don't want to set a flat rate site wide, and would prefer to do this on a per category basis. Another module which incorporates one part of what I want to do is CATEGORY BASED DISCOUNT http://theqdomain.com/ocstore/opencart_ ... based_disc

The problem with this module for me is that it doesn't offer anything dealing with user groups, strictly focuses on quantity based discounts when purchasing multiple items from the same category.

Thanks for any feedback from anyone who has found a module to do what I require or has experience modifying one of these and can share how they achieved it.

For anyone that has an interest in groups (aside from the suggested default/wholesale), I would strongly concur that there is likely to be a correlation between customer group and product category. An unrestricted store-wide discount is very open to abuse. Being able to check which categories the discount applies to would be a vast improvement.

Also a good idea is Q's Group Featured module which I hope will soon be available for 1.4.8 (with 'home' position and add buttons).

I featured in 'Contributions' an extension to allow customers to select a customer group when they register and to select a customer group to send Admin emails to which might also fit in well.

Any progress on the Group/Category combined discount feature?

I bought your module Category Based Discount (OpenCart Addon), but it is not working properly. When buying 10 products and one category (10:10%), and then a product from another category, he adds this product to a discount, while the discount for the category is not worth it.

Maybe I'm wrong to do something?
