Issues in Step 2 Pre-installation Opencart 1.5.6.4 in Xampp

I am trying to install opencart 1.5.4..6 using Xampp Localhost. I have only gotten to Step 2 - Preinstallation. Everything is ok except for issues here:

2. Please make sure the PHP extensions listed below are installed. (See attached image)
I have added the extension mCrypt and mySQL but still doesn't work. I added the information to both config files.

I plan on getting to the latest version but I need to start here first.

Probably easiest to remove the mysql and mcrypt checks in the validate function of install/controller/step_2.php.

you are trying to install opencart 1.5.4..6 on Xampp with php 8.0.13 !!!! try older Xampp version for example 5.6.40

I had read that and have downloaded that version of Xampp and trying it now. Thanks.

The older Xampp version for example 5.6.40 worked. Thanks.
