Revisiting the question - how is this possible in v1.4.8? I've logged on and used the same browser window to view the store, but anything I click sends me to the maintenance window. Thanks!

Thanks - but I'm already in Maint mode. I need to know how to view the store while I'm in maintenance mode. I am doing some testing, but I have to take my store out of maintenance mode each time I want to see the changes I've made. It's tedious, and I don't want surprise visits from customers while I'm trying to fix things

your not soposed to do things that way. you should setup a test server.

but i think Q set it so that if you are logged into the admoin you can see the changes.

I simply put an index.html on my site as a page saying temporairly down for maintenance. Then, to see the page the way others do was as simple as www.sitename.com/index.php instead of index.html. Most servers look for the index.html first. When I had things right, I simply deleted the index.html.

<slapping forehead with palm of hand> D'oh! Thanks, Todd. You're a genius! I've hidden administrative menus on other websites using this method. I have no idea why I didn't think of doing it here.

Maintenance mode was designed that way it is so that you didn't have to put index.html pages in place. As long as you are logged in as admin, you should still be able see your site normally while everyone else cannot

That was my point in revisiting this topic. It ain't working for me. I can see one page when I'm logged on as admin, then when I click anything else, I get the "We're closed for maintenance" page.

Yup - sorry for the delay in replying - I've been out of town. It's rather moot at this point because my site is now live.
