Error related to VQMOD that then goes to another encryption error

Good evening. A few days ago, I started to receive the following error on my site
Warning: "continue 2" targeting switch is equivalent to "break 2". Did you mean to use "continue 3"? in /home2/hidden/public_html/vqmod/vqmod.php on line 684

I had an older version of VQMOD (2.4.1), so I updated to 2.6.1 for opencart, thinking I just had an old version of VQMOD, but it didn't correct the problem (the same error, just on a different line). I have now updated to 2.6.4 (not for opencart), and get the following error:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mcrypt_create_iv() in /home2/hidden/public_html/system/library/encryption.php:8 Stack trace: #0 /home2/hidden/public_html/index.php(228): Encryption->__construct('4d5c0506faf9b7f...') #1 {main} thrown in /home2/hidden/public_html/system/library/encryption.php on line 8

I did an info.php file and I am running on PHP 7.3.2

I am running 2.6.4 for opencart, but still getting the error.

The integrated version is for 2.0 and above, and I'm running 1.5.6

You also have to replace the system/library/encryption.php File Content with one of those,
to make 1.5.6.x work with up to (tested) PHP v.7.4.11 Versions:

And you could also download the VqMod Pro for 1.5.6.x Versions, to have a well-done

Well, thank you for that encryption trick.. that solved the VQMOD issue with PHP 7.3!

Now, my theme is throwing up (I assume because of the same PHP 7.3):

^ I just repeats this same error, but references a different line for about 10 times

I've reached out to the theme producer, but it appears they've moved on to 3.0 and it's only compatible with 2.0 and 3.0 opencart.

I have limited options, I'm guessing?

Well, the Journal themes aren't supported here, you will have to get in touch with the Journal support on this. Or install another proper web theme, the Journal framework is not a standard-compliant theme.
