Hi, I have a brand new OC 3.0.3.2 and I want to install Journal3.
I have some problems installing it (I know, it is my fault, and I should go to hell. >:D.), and probably it is because of the PHP settings. (maybe the allow_url_include or the open_basedir, who knows?)

If anyone using the OC3 with Journal3 would you be so kind as to send me the PHP settings of his/her server?

I would like to see if there is any clue, what should I switch on to get the Journal working.
Thank you for your help.

(However, if anyone interesting, after installation of J3, push the refresh button on extension/modification, and the admin had gone forever.
This is the error left behind:

Code: Select all

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/home/elektra1/public_html/system/library/journal3/vendor/Minify/CSS/Compressor.php' (include_path='.:/opt/cpanel/ea-php72/root/usr/share/pear') in /home/elektra1/public_html/system/library/journal3/minifier.php on line 7)

Contact Journal support since this error message seem to be about a missing file.

Thank you for the guess, I have already checked the file and the path, everything seems to correct. I have already asked for support and waiting for the answer.
In other forums, I have found that the require_once() often occur similar errors because of the PHP settings.

(I am just wandering in the dark and try to believe that somewhere, there is a solution waiting for me. )

A solution can't await for you if you're not the one looking on how to solve it.

However, require_once would be a greater issue if this was related with the reported incident since even the Opencart Framework uses require_once as nobody, in general, seem to have any issues with those requirements.

Seriously, why? It's one of the worst themes, many of its frontend skins look ugly and bloated, and it keeps breaking OpenCart.

Anyway, the issue is not the require_once. To narrow it down, try to temporarily switch to the OpenCart default theme to see whether the issue is still there or not.

Thank you for your reply. My problem is that I can not log in to admin page, because it is dead, see the error message, which appears instead of the admin page. Meanwhile, the front end is still running with the default OC theme, because I have a brand new OC install.

About why I choose Journal:
- Lots of people choosing this theme, so I believe it worth a try.
- Probably the themes look ugly, but I am rather a UI/UX designer, graphic designer, but not a coder. So I rather work on the design elements in my evenings, instead of coding extra modules.
- Journal including a lot of customizable modules. Last year, I have already worked with an opencart webshop and had a lot of trouble with the 3rd party extensions (and the pavo theme) we used. I really fed up with the bugs and the new problems, every time I changed something or install something new. (In a perfect world, the Journal were made by isenselabs, they are reliable).
- For this money - 75USD for 1-year support - seems a good deal because of the modules included.

Regards, PV

I will admit many of them look good.

and it keeps breaking OpenCart.
But this is the price to pay.

So users should instead look for clean CSS-only themes like this:

Try to manually clear the OCmod modifications cache first. If it is a fresh install, with only Journal3 added to it, it should then bring back the admin backend.

Also make sure the '/home/elektra1/public_html/system/library/journal3/vendor/Minify/CSS/Compressor.php' file has proper access permissions, like the other OpenCart PHP files, e.g. 0644.

Finally, I got the solution. After three days of being an almost-to-cry state of mind  , I found the problem. I write it down, maybe it will useful for someone else in the dark future:

Uploading files via FTP with Total Commander occur some kind of accessibility or visibility bug or something like this. The result is that running PHP does not see some files on the server.

I deleted everything, and upload the files with Filezilla, and it is working. Sorry if it was obvious for others, for me as a newbie, it is new. And thanks for the replies.

Regards,
PV.
