Probably just that it's easier to do. Deleting all of the old options, then creating new ones saves having to load the current options, calculate which are still in the database, delete the ones that aren't in the new ones from the database only and then insert the new ones. For products especially this happens quite a lot (any links to categories, downloads etc)
Just to update the thread for any future readers of this issue. I contacted Karapuz whose importer extension I use about this issue. He has already created a later version of his importer to fix this issue. It didn't work for me as I was using a different setting so I emailed Karapuz and he fixed it straight away.eire wrote:Thanks for the detailed reply Jay, much appreciated! I will email Karapuz tomorrow.
I'm delighted now as this issue is now resolved and I can update prices/stock counts with my importer and not have to worry about product options in a saved cart getting wiped.
This is a problem still and absolutely is an important issue, especially when a company runs a massive cyber Monday sale and several of the orders get items free/discounted that they shouldn't have because of this. Not the phone call I wanted to get last night.
