Hello to Everybody,
I have tried all the options available in the forum but of no use. I would be greately thankful for any help. I am not being able to add featured products in OC 3.0.2.0. What I have done till now is as follows.
(1) admin->extensions->modules and therein edited module featured. Named the module and selected the products to be apeared as featured and enabled the status and saved but it did not work.
(2) admin-> design-> layouts
and created a new layout named featured products and one time named the route as product/featured and second time I named it common/home
(3) admin-> catalog->product and edited the product I want to appear as featured. In design tab once I selected the layout as Featured Products which I had created in step2 and then I selected the layout as home.
But all these steps have not benefitted me. I would be deepely thankful of all of you for any guidance and advice.
Thanks and Best Regards
Aarslan

Your first step is correct. After that, you create or use a layout in Design > Layouts (which it sounds like you did), but you then need to apply the module to that layout. You do that when editing the layout, by choosing the module, then clicking the blue + button. Lots of people forget that second step, so make sure you're doing that.
Also, double-check that you don't have another layout controlling the common/home route. OpenCart comes with a default "Home" layout, so if you created a new one the original "Home" layout might be controlling the page instead of the one you created. Ensure that a route is only assigned to ONE layout at a time.

Johnathan thanks for your reply and time.
I have applied the module to the layout featured products and I have named the route as product/featured but even then nothing happens.
I have tried one thing.
I have made categories Category A, Category A > Category 1, Category A > Category 2, Category A > Category 3 for testing purposes. Each category has one product except Category A. Category A contains all these subcategories. When I go to catalog-> categories and edit the Category A and in design tab I assign Featured Products layout and then come back to the site. I have assigned Home layout in all subcategories. When I hover on Category A in the main menue then subcategories Category 1, Category 2 appear beneath and when I click on Show All Category A beneath subcategories then a page appears with Featured written on top and with products which I have selected in Featured in Modules in Extensions. Featured products appear by clicking on Show All Category A even if I assign Featured Products layout to the subcategories. Could you please suggest any solution with this scenario. I would be greately thankful for any guidance.
Thanks

The route needs to be the page you want it on, not the module you're using. If you want it on the home page, you need to put this route:
common/home
I'm not entirely sure of your second paragraph, but I'd recommend familiarizing yourself more with how the layout system works in OpenCart. Here are some links to do that:

Hope that helps.

Hi Johnathan,
Thanks for sharing the tutorials and helping me. This was extremely useful. I am greately thankful for your kind help. My problem is solved. What I did is. I went to Admin->Extensions->Extensions and edited the featured module and added the products I want to be featured. Then I went to Admin->Design->Layouts and edited the Home layout and applied the Featured module to it. But all of this is of no use if we keep the available date of product in Catalog-->Products->Data to be a future date. It should be at least one day before the current date or it may be current date. But with this problem solved, I have a new problem. Featured products are appearing on home page but slideshow is not appearing on home page. Please guide me in this scenario as well.
Thanks and Kind Regards

Hi Johnathan,
Problem of slideshow not appearing on home page is also solved. In admin->design->layouts, I edited the Home layout and applied slideshow module to it. Your tutorials helped me to understand layouts. Thanks for your help
