Product option tax

Is there an extension that will allow me to set taxable or non taxable status per product option ? Specifically in the UK childrens clothes are tax free so a pair of shoes up to size 6 are tax free but over that are taxable.

Probably make 2 products, one with sizes up to 6 and the other with sizes over?

That would be the easy solution but it would literally double the number of my client's product which she is not thrilled about.
I've seen other carts that can do this.
