Hey everyone, novice here so please be patient!

I would like to know, whats the best way to create a test installation of opencart while an existing site already exists for upgrade purposes.

The plan would be to use a temporary domain and setup a seperate installation complete with its own root directory and once setup, tested and working - transfer the primary domain to this new installation.

How would this be done in Cpanel?

Thanks in advance

In Cpanel go to the Softalicious Installer and use the auto install feature to put a copy in a subfolder. I would use the existing domain /subfolder rather than bother with a separate one or sub domain. Softalicious does not always have the latest OC version. If it's got say 2.3.0.2 install that then maybe manaually upgrade to V3 if you want to. :)
