Hey guys. I've developed an idea for the next stage of our store. I'd like to move to open cart, as I've been playing around with it, and I'm tired of being stuck on a cart with no documentation or support. I'd like some starting points/tips if possible to achieve the desired functionality.

Attributes / Flash Product Images: I'd like to update the products to use a flash file that I specify. This flash file exposes and waits for some updates via flash vars. Then I'll have a javascript file thats going to grab information from the attribute selections (onChange event) and pass that information into the flashvars. This gives me a 'real-time' proof of the product customizations. However, this heavily relies on text-input attributes, something I haven't seen. There was a module, but I guess the guy now charges for it. I'd rather write my own. EDIT: Also, I'd like to build an extension that displays a color-chip selector, rather than the standard drop down.

Product group/configurator: You can individually purchase some of my products, but I also sell them as a full package. It would be nice to have a product, like "Full Package A". When you click full package A, you then cycle through each product in the full package. Rather than add to cart, you have 'next'. A breadcrumb to track progress would be awesome.

Any pointers as where to start?
