Hi,

OpenCart V1.5.6

I was working in xampp trying to bring my online website (rfmodules.com.au) to OpenCart on my local machine. My online website _was_ working fine no problems.

I had phpMyAdmin open to both the xampp site and the online site. I accidentally renamed (using phpMyAdmin) the online database instead of my xampp database. I promptly renamed it back again but now my once working online website is coming up with a blank page - with no errors. I cannot access the admin page either. I'm madly trying to research, understand and fix whatever I have done to the database. So far I have not found anything that might help.

Note, I have not changed or deleted any files from the online website. I The website was working prior to accidentally renaming the database. Also, when I renamed it I didn't tick the "Adjust Privileges" check box.

I have a backup of my database that is only a few hours old. I did try renaming the online database again, then created a new one of the same name as the original, then imported my saved database to the new one. But that also failed with only a blank page being shown.

I'm hoping someone can help please. This is a site that has been working for the last 4 years and now my accidental renaming of the database has rendered my website inaccessible.

Thank you

Create a new databasde and user, import the contents from the old one and adjust the config.php and admin/config.php files to reflect the change. That should work. If not, let's have a rethink.

Hi johnp. Thank you for your quick reply. I have tried creating a new database using phpMyAdmin and importing my backed up database. I know it imported as the size matches the old database. I then created a username and password (from within cpanel "MySQL Databases") - the same as I previously had, thus I didn't need to change config.php or admin/config.php. This still has not worked.

Should I create the username/password before I import the backed up database?

Is your database backup a full structure back up ?

I'd have to take a closer look to give you an answer.

Hi mona. I used 'Export' under phpMyAdmin in the SQL format to back it up. I would assume it was a full structure backup. When imported back into a blank database all tables are created and the data is present. I did not use Opencart's backup function present in admin.

RE: back up - keep that very safe.

Is your db hostname still the same?

I have multiple copies of the DB backup on different devices. :-)

The hostname has not changed. The website was working, I haven't changed/deleted any files from the live site. I just happened to rename the live database using phpMyAdmin (instead of the xampp DB I was playing with). Renamed it back to the original name then, the website is now coming up blank. The result is the same with a newly created database and importing the backed up data.

I'm not sure if you received my earlier PM, but I have just sent it again. What do you need to have a closer look?

Sorry, finger problems - my first message was sitting in the Outbox the whole time.

Thank you everyone for all the help. Turns out my hosting provider sorted the issue. The problem was:

"It seems during the renaming of the databases it caused the linking of the database to the user to fail. I have gone ahead and fixed the issue by linking the user and database back together and the site is now back online."
