Hi!
I have been using opencart for quite a while (but I haven't updated past 1.5.6.4 because of some custom made support programs that I use don't work above that version).
It has been an ongoing addition of products but I have reached a point where my little hacks to keep up are not working too well. The issue is price updates with main product model and options.... Some options have prices that go up or down with the option.
My main wholesaler provides a feed that goes by model # and then a child designation and it also includes a price like so:
RTXS 3012 $90
RTXS 3013 $90
RTXS 360 $205
So normally I would have the product of RTXS with the price listed as 90 and then for the option 3012 and 3013 + $0 and for the "360" option I would price option of $115 (to total $205). BUT of course nothing is that easy. There is also a discount applied to the product and price.
So lets say it is 10%... I then have a special of 10% off the price and then I'll have to take 10% off the price of the option.
So do this times 3000 + products with some with 2 or 3 options and some with up to 10 options.....
You can see what the workload is to update products and options.
What would be helpful would be parent and child associations
Like:
Parent: RTXS
Child: 3012
Child: 3013
Child: 360
and then on the product page to have it show the children as options.
But I have never seen an extension that I thought would be easy to manage to do a parent and child relationship BUT even if I did then what about automated price updates?
I would prefer to not days and days on end to verify 16,000 products and options manually every time my main wholesaler updates prices.
Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Mike
Well, for v.1.5.6.4, a few misses have still been found and fixed:
https://github.com/opencart/opencart/bl ... angelog.md
and the latest Version Release Candidate 1.5.6.5 could be found here,
if one not only cares, to download the few files related manually,
to also get those misses fixed in an already working v.1.5.6.4 based shop:
https://github.com/opencart/opencart/tr ... 306fb75707

But to your problem, did you already check on this, it might make you work
a little easier, but I never tested it yet, so, I cannot judge:

I have looked at opencart manager a while ago but I don't know if it would do what is needed as my wholesaler sometimes makes feed changes and their feed isn't 100% the same even when they don't make format changes. BUT you may be right, opencart manager may be on of the better options... I wonder if there are others too??
But this question has another question to it... thinking IF opencart is still a good platform for products and options or products as parents and child.
I have seen other carts where each option is an individual product, then each option is assigned as a child to a parent. Now I haven't used one of those other carts for too long so I don't know. In fact opencart is the cart I have used the longest but I just spent a week going through 30K entries making sure their products, options, and their pricing is 100% accurate since any pricing that is wrong could be a violation of pricing requirements and the manufacturers would stop selling to us.
While some may not think that is too big of a deal, it should have been done over a month versus a week because it was a week of nothing but verification, eat, verification. And updates come every few months so just price verification updates could be come a full time job without any other time to actually run the business.
