Password Protect entire Store

How do you password protect categories or the entire store so only approved customers can view products? Is there a native method, or an extension?

Yes, they work if you want to protect your store while being built...by having one master password. I'm saying, I need to restrict access to my store categories, or the store itself only to registered customers. So everyone would have their own unique login/pass, but those without credentials couldn't see the products.
