Tax Rate in NYC is: 8.375%

Problem:
The tax on any 1 item priced at $14.99 should be $1.26.. on the website, it says it's $1.59, which is a lot more than 8.375%.  I just rechecked it and that's what it says at subtotal.

Any solution is well appreciated. thanks.

The tax rate is correct but it is being calculated from the price + shipping subtotal. I am not sure if there is an admin option to force it to only tax the price of the product and ignore the shipping.

That is overkill as your shipping will not be there at all now instead of only not being taxed. You only need to change the tax class of your shipping extension to "none".

Bruce,

Your solution assumes that the prices for the products are displayed without the sales tax, doesn't it?

That is

Admin > Configuration > Setting > Local > Tax : No

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

No, makes no difference either way. All other tax will still calculate the same.

What we are saying here is that tax is not being charged/collected on the shipping by the store owner.
