Doing new install on a new hosting service... How to move my database?

Hello,
I am having issues upgrading at the moment, but I need my site up even if its not pretty. SOOO putting up a new fresh install for now.

I did the orignal install and editing of OC and of my theme in the past. Just follow steps and go slow lol.
BUT this new issue with mysql has me totally confused and I cant find explanation or steps. I cant be the only one this
has happened to? lol

I have never moved or done a fresh install and tried to keep all my settings and info before... grrrrrr lol

I have to change hosting services so I installed the new opencart but how do I move my existing sql database from my old hosting service?
My database existed before the whole mysql update the hosting service did. I did do a backup of the original sql but I assume its in the wrong format?
Banging my head on keyboard... so confused lol
ANY help is appreciated as my site has been down for days.

Magically my site came up after nearly a week. I did nothing.. it just started working.
Hostbig my hosting service fixed it magically.. with no apology or sense of responsibility. It was magic.. grrr
I am backing up everything ASAP and moving. This was a terrible confusing experience.
