First off I must apologise if this question is in the wrong Forum.
I've been using Magento 1 and don't like the idea of going to Magento 2. Looking at OpenCart 3 as a solution to the problem, but has been difficult to find answers to a couple of questions.
The major issue is that I ship all over Europe. Currently, I have a checkout cart Total Weight of products. The buyer enters a country or Postcode, the function determines the Postal Zone / Region from that data and so generates a Postal Price. The Postal Price calculation is as an external PHP function in Magento.
How easy would this be to implement in OpenCart 3?
e.g. 3 Products (8Kg) sending to the UK (which is determined as Zone 3) Therefore, Zone 3 weight range of 5kg to 10kg cost = 14.00 euros.
Can the Checkout sequence be removed therefore letting the buyer Click PayPal checkout only? i.e. don't want customers to create accounts etc.
Is the Confirmation Email template configurable regarding layout and content, plus an automatic generation of the order number?
How easy is to bulk upload products with associated images, and update said products by exporting and re-importing without affecting any of the product data history?
Thank you and sorry again if this has been covered elsewhere.
Barton.
Well, when it comes to Shipments / Payments / Taxes troughout Europe,
you won't find much usable (free) information around here, and OC seems
no to favour the EU-Way of charging/counting taxes also. It would probably
be better, to get in contact with a DEV who already knows about this, and
possibly also knows Magento a little.

I've been using Magento 2 for a few months and found it to be utterly frustrating. It's unintuitive, bloated, riddled with bugs and the despite doubling ram on my server it runs slower than 1.xchinwag wrote:]

Currently migrating to Opencart and it's a breath of fresh air, wish I'd done it sooner tbh.
I used the Royal Mail extension in Magento 1.9 which was free, in 2.0 it's now $149. I spent a couple of days setting up tables instead. The major issue is that I ship all over Europe. Opencart however comes with a Royal Mail extension out of the box, seems there's loads of other shipping methods available too.
Weight is calculated automatically and in my initial tests works a treat. Seems easy to customise in the admin area too.
You can enable guest checkout if that's what you mean. There's also a range of Paypal and other payment processor options. Not sure if you can completely bypass the checkout, there is a popular one-page checkout extension that seems to streamline the process tho.Can the Checkout sequence be removed therefore letting the buyer Click PayPal checkout only? i.e. don't want customers to create accounts etc.
Order numbers are automatic and can set a prefix in the admin area.Is the Confirmation Email template configurable regarding layout and content, plus an automatic generation of the order number?
Not tried customising email templates yet but everything else seems easily customisable (compared to Magento) so I would guess emails are too.
I don't think bulk uploads are possible in the vanilla version, might be wrong. I "think" I saw an extension for it in the marketplace but don't quote me on that. How easy is to bulk upload products with associated images, and update said products by exporting and re-importing without affecting any of the product data history?
Sorry if I'm not much help, just opinions of a fellow Magento refugee.
