Hi,

I'm trying to install Brainy Filter on my site. But I can't create any new instance!!! When I click on "Add new instance". It's saying that "Permission Denied!". I am the only admin right now & I'm getting this message. This is really weird. How can I overcome this issue? Experts please help me to overcome this weird issue.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Did you give the top administrator group all rights? Just use the select all by access and modify permissions at the User Group edit page and save...

Custom OpenCart modules and solutions. You can write PM with additional questions... Extensions you can find here

Thanks for your reply. I've given all the privileges possible by selecting "Select All" in the Access Permission & Modify Permission section. But result is same even after that. I think this is some kind of bug. I haven't face this type of issue in the previous editions of OpenCart. Hopefully someone will help me on this silly issue.

I assume you have OC 2.3. In this case permission denied error is pretty much normal, because 2.3 is completely broken in terms of backward compatibility.

Try to install OpenCart 2.3 Compatibility Fixes extension from this page. It will add missing compatibility code to your store and you should finally get your extension working.

Thanks for your reply. I've downloaded and install the "OpenCart 2.3 Compatibility Fixes" extension on my OpenCart. Now this extension is in modifications section. After installing that extension, I've got a long list under extension menu like previous versions. But unfortunately, when I am trying to enter the edit page for "Brainy Filter" extension. It's all same. It is saying the same "Permission Denied" message on the screen.

Can you please explain that, how can I use the "Compatilbility fixes" extensions to get rid of that weird message.

Thanks in advance.

Uninstall/install extension or go to User Groups page, select all permissions and save them (or do both). After that this message should be gone. If you still see it, then your extension absolutely not compatible with OC 2.3.

@theKortek, reinstalling the extension have done the trick. Thanks a lot for solving this weird problem. But do you know why this is happening with 2.3.X.X ? Is this a bug with the user permission or something else.

In OC 2.3 folder structure was changed without any reasonable reason (especially considering, that later on OC 2 was simply abandoned). And, as it was always in OpenCart concept, now backward compatibility code were added. Well, there is some code, but it's a joke. This is why any extension, which has older folder structure fails to work properly in OC 2.3, despite that all the rest remained the same.

The extension I recommended you to install adds backward compatibility code and allows you to use extensions, which weren't tuned to OC 2.3 specifically. Like I said, everything except that stupid new folder structure is absolutely the same.
