A $20 minimum is too much money for some mods. I am a new extension developer, and being forced to charge $20 (paying a 50% commission). IMO it seems like highway-robbery on both ends.
Try Code Canyon. They charge 75% plus a bunch of half-hidden fees for non-exclusive rights to sell. Got incredible $3 for selling a copy of $25 extension, stopped working with them immediately.

Thanks for that info. Guess, I'll stick with the OpenCart Marketplace :)

The $20 price requirement seems pretty high. Might the higher min price push at least some developers to move their extensions to other stores where they can sell at more affordable rates? I actually thought $10 was high when you consider how many countries around the world have citizens that earn a very low rate of income compared to more developed countries. One of the reasons people are attracted to Opencart is that it is a free/low cost shopping cart. So having extensions that are fairly priced might help many who can't afford more expensive options to choose Opencart and it's ecosystem of extensions. Personally, I'm hoping that we can at least go back to a $10 minimum for commercial extensions.

If payment processors are taking a big bite out of the funds... maybe a better rate can be negotiated?

@thekrotek Your numbers are incorrect for codecanyon. A non-exclusive author is charged 55%. Exclusive authors rates range from 37.5% to 12.5% depending on how many sales you have made with them. An exclusive author who has sold $75000 worth of items is charged only 12.5% for all future sales.

My numbers are very much right. Have you tried to work with them? I did. And like I previously said, my revenue was $3 from $25 price.

You simply copied info from their site, but in reality their price calculation is different. They have a bunch of stupid fees like customer fee, developer fee, some other crazy fee etc. So yes, you might get your 45%, but not from initial price, but from greatly castrated amount.

As for selling $75K worth of items... well, not only amount itself is huge for 99% of developers, but that exclusive thing makes me totally sick. It's not their freaking business, where I sell MY stuff. Nobody should be ever shaved for this no matter what. This is why everybody should avoid Code Canyon at all costs.
