Using 2.2 module in 2.3 Module Bulk Search and Replace

I have a module which is working in 2.2 and should work in 2.3.0.2, but is not.
It is the Module BULK SEARCH AND REPLACE which is costing $20 and abandoned by the developer.
OC support is not able to fix the problem, as per their own information to me in writing.
Need your feedback about the following
Is it possible to do the 'work around" as following?
install 2.2 as parallel installation using the same database
Running the module in 2.2 version and make the changes to database, which is the place for this module where it is active.
This way, as same database, the changes should also show up in 2.3.0.2 version
Anyone ever did such thing? how was the result?
Which risks might be?
Any other suggestion welcome.. especially someone could fix the problem in the module to make it work on 2.3

well, you just forgot to mention, what you plan to give back, to someone,
willing to invest the time & knowledge, to do you a favour
After all, it's planned to save your costly time, so, it should be worth
something, I guess...
I couldn't, I never use latest Versions anyway...

But honestly, when it comes to share a DB between two different OC-Versions,
FORGET IT !

ich meine es eigentlich nicht böse, nur, die Lust fehlt halt vielen, um auch noch hier zum Spass viel beizutragen,
wenn man ständig schon gratis updaten muss, um mit wenigstens mit dem, was vielleicht etwas Kohle bringt,
dabeizubleiben.

also sagen wir mal so.
Wenn ich die 20Us$ von OC support zurueck bekomme, bin ich gerne bereit die wieder zu investieren. Da das Module ja nicht funktioniert derzeit kann ich ja auch direkt bezahlen ohne schlechtes Gewissen.
Waere das ein Angebot?
