Can OpenCart be used to sell activation keys/licenses?

After seeing how clean & easy OpenCart is in regard to Zen-Cart I'm considering a migration to OpenCart.

One critical thing however I couldn't find in OpenCart: a module or add-on that enables sale of keys or licenses to activate downloaded software. I am small shareware developer that provides software for free download via various websites (TuCows etc) and if/when people like it, they buy a key from my website.

Is there such a feature in OpenCart?

Well the zencart method was for a static link and password
If you want new keys for each product, you would need to have a table of keys or a keys.txt file that lists all the keys. Then during checkout, pull a key from that table and add it to the order email and remove that key from the source to prevent it from being used again.

Well no of course not. No store supports that as it is a very rare feature. Like I said, you could use the same method as that zencart post showed, but that isn't what you want. You would have to do as I said above.

Well, I would also prefer a way to sell software activation keys through OpenCart.
Probably a general framework could be implemented for the following distribution method:
1. download software trial for free
2. customer enters into OpenCart a device and software specific installation identifier (displayed by the trial software)
3. customer pays and gets the OpenCart plugin generated device and software specific activation key
4. customer activates his software product with the received key

Although I'm not an expert in PHP (Java is my real strength) I'm ready to spend some development time on such a framework even in PHP. What is the right way to start to work on such an initiative?
Shall I submit a feature request somehow?
Is there anyone else, who is interested and could help in the development?
Is the process above the same you would like to have?
