Opencart 2 Journal Theme Slow Website

I have had a website running for about 7 months, all was working fine. I have just installed the Journal Theme and now my site is very slow to load pages, does anyone have any advice on what could be causing this.

The Journal theme can be quite cumbersome for many reasons. You should stick with web themes which are closer to Opencart standards. A good web theme should only rely on CSS and its own images and not radically alter template files, nor introduce new Javascripts, nor introduce new functionalities which have nothing to do with a web theme.
