Auto Backups Opencart folder and mysql database

is there a good way to make automated backups of the opencart folder + mysql database?

well, it's obviously a great idea, and a MUST for any professional Shop.
You could find out, if/what your Hoster offers, when it comes to auto-backup's.
Or then, check these Extensions:

And don't forget, that the 'usual' OC DB-Backup Routine does NOT 'store' DB-TABLES,
but only their Content, meaning, that, if you would be forced to place the data onto a new virgin and 'OC-unformated' DB, it would not work. You therefore need a Server MyAdmin Tool, really able to make a full DB-Backup, and I am unaware of, if one of the OC-Extensions will function the same way. Just to mention this ...!

Every hosting provider has backup services. If it's not enough for you or you want to have more control on your backup, use cron and run a simple backup script with it. The script will dumb your bases, pack your files and put them in defined folder. There're literally thousands of such scripts over the internet. Just search for "php backup script" and you'll get tons of solutions. If you know some PHP, you'll get it running in two minutes.
