I purchased Ultimate Product Sticker 3, and can't find out where to go to add stickers to products. There were no supporting documents and my requests for support have been met with "give me your log in details and I'll take a look" - my store is pretty locked down and I don't want others having access. When I buy something thats advertised as working with 2.3.0.2 I expect it to work and expect instructions on use.
I also need a Purolator shipping estimator but there are none that work with 2x yet. Even though 2 seems to have been out for quite some time now.
I expected more. I was very limited in my cart choice due to the fact that I had to use Elavon. That's working fine, it's just the shipping and the stickers I need to get working now. I have to get this site up and running before Christmas.
Has anyone worked around the shipping thing? Maybe I could add it as a required extra? Choices of "ship at $x" or "pick up at store" - but how would that multiply if someone orders more than one of a product?

Well, I tried to access the Demo Site, linked on the Extension Page, and all I've got, was a suspended Site, not active anymore since at least end of september 2016. You should have been checking on this before, because the Code Seller is possibly no longer active.
But still, Extensions are ONLY designed to function for sure in STOCK OC Versions, correctly installed, no other Mod's installed, and by use of the DEFAULT OC Theme, unless noted otherwise. But since you did not link your Site, who should be able to find out ?!
Strictly technically, if you use the correct OC Version, Default OC theme and no other Extensions, you could contact OC Administration, and ask for a refund, if you cannot longer get a hold on the Seller himselfs.

You do realize, that this is YOUR problem, not developer's? Some complex errors REQUIRE access to your site, if you want them to be solved. If you don't give access in such situations, you're on your own.agevent wrote:my store is pretty locked down and I don't want others having access.
Also according to his reply "give me your log in details and I'll take a look", he asked you to send him LOG FILE, not access details.
For now I don't see anything bad or frustrating. Developer replied to you and the only thing you need for now is communicate with him further. Every single extension you purchase may fail, no matter how good reviews are. So just communicate with developer, follow his recommendations and don't consider him to be a superhero or some Harry Potter dude, who can solve all your issues with one swing of a magic wand. Just have some patience, and all your issues will be eventually fixed.

For the sticker extension, I agree that it's frustrating if there are not good installation instructions for an extension. Perhaps try re-uploading the files, or manually uploading them one-by-one, might fix the issue. If it doesn't, you may need to give access for the developer to help you --- there's only so much we developers can do without taking a look at what's actually going on. If you go that route, you could consider installing the free Code Manager (http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... n_id=17423) extension, which would let you give access to the files without giving FTP access. You could then create an OpenCart admin user that has limited modify permissions, that you can disable afterwards.
For shipping, I've think we've discussed this, but Formula-Based Shipping would allow you to set up your own rates for shipping, including weight-based and per-item-based rates. That could get you through until someone manages to create or update the Purolator extension for you.

thanks - don't mean to be antagonistic, but when I buy something I expect it to work and not have the developer have to take a peek under the hood to get it running. I don't want to give access because I have it set to work with our online banking, and giving access to this also gives access to that.thekrotek wrote:You do realize, that this is YOUR problem, not developer's? I didn't see the log file part of the reply - I'll re-read it and if that's what he wants, I'll gladly give him that.
thanks for the response (even though I'm set to get emails when I have replies here, I'm not getting them, hence the delayed reply)
Happy Christmas!

thanks - I reinstalled it after emptying the error log, and there's nothing new in the log, so I must be missing where the settings are located, but I don't see anything and there is no documentation at all.
I'll try installing manually in the morning, then I'm done. If that doesn't work, I'll request my money back and try someone else's sticker extension.
Everybody expects that, but server environment is a VERY flexible thing. Not a single extension works on all server environments. Just accept this fact and always be ready, that purchased software will require tweaking for YOUR setup.agevent wrote:when I buy something I expect it to work and not have the developer have to take a peek under the hood to get it running.
NOBODY cares about your accounting or banking info. But if you want to keep it safe, just put it in some safe place or allow access for developer's account to only certain parts of your site. People give access to sites with much, much more secrets, than you might even imagine. You just need to setup permissions right, that's all.agevent wrote:I don't want to give access because I have it set to work with our online banking, and giving access to this also gives access to that.

The Krotek is quite right. We hear your frustration; but you simply need to add a temporary user to your admin, and limit that user's abilities/access. You can then delete that user once your problem is fixed.
Note too, that on OpenCart, you have a fantastic base to work from, and HUGE amounts of modules. So the more mods you add, the more likely you are to get some kind of conflict. Having said that-- don't let it hold you back from adding more and more useful mods: all reputable mod sellers/developers on OpenCart usually provide FREE support to help you incorporate their mod into your site.

understood. I've worked with Joomla for several years, and know what it's like to buy a module and not have it work out of the box, but thats has happened maybe 4 or 5 times over the years, and almost all work fine, and I guess that's what I was expecting here.mmosolution wrote:The Krotek is quite right. I am running my OS store within Joomla (JooCart), so would need to open up my joomla first to a temp admin, and then also set up temporary access to OC.
As a pro Joomla developer, I can say, that it's a VERY different framework. Joomla is 100 times more complex, stable and user friendly, than OpenCart, but less flexible, than OpenCart. So yes, of course, Joomla extensions work "out-of-the-box" more often.agevent wrote:understood. OpenCart requires you to be more advanced admin, but again it's a simple system and can be easily managed. Just don't try to compare these 2 frameworks and simply accept their differences. They both have their cons and pros. I badly miss VQMod in Joomla and well-thought even system in OpenCart. Yet I can handle both systems easily,
