Why does SagePay Direct have Cron Job?

In the latest OC, SagePay Direct has Cron Job field and URL, what does this do? (I know what Cron's do, I just want to know what it does for SagePay)

I'm not familiar with SagePay extension, but I did a quick look in the code. You probably talking about cron token, which is most likely just a security measure. We here have the same token (secret code) in all our extensions, which use cron. It's needed to disallow fake calls of the script, because only you know the secret code.
