you'll need an FTP Account for the Site ROOT public-html Directory , then, you'll have access to all of it's Content.

I really don't know, I have never seen such a selection area, but I assume, you should try the USER Section as well,
to make sure, to have it all !

Forget all the nonsens about using FTP etc.
Simply install this free mod and everything is okay:

well, but as soon as he tries to upload a Theme, or some extension, not just based on OcMod, he'll possibly require FTP anyway. :D

Well spotted .. but how will he upload a theme or extension if he is not using other extensions??
As far as I know, inside OC only the Installer can upload files (except in the shop the customers and these ar no extensions or themes).
And there only ocmods are allowed (while every extension - no matter what - can be changed to an OCMod within 20 seconds to be able to install it with the onboard installer).

Sure, but you should be around here long enough, to know, that most OC-Users are no Pro's. :D
So much to this ! ;)

I wrote this, because the question was 'how to use the extension installer'
And using that, no FTP is required - if that extension is installed I suggested.

And the times of VQMod are over with OCMod.
And if an extension really must use VQMod (like some of mine do because with it more is possible e.g. dis- & enabling on the fly), all of them can be installed as OCMod (basically 7 lines of a generic install.xml).

So no need to fiddeling around with FTP-settings when some people even do not know what FTP means (and is)!
