Slideshows by Category

Hi everyone, be warned please I am a newbie at opencart, I have been a php developer for many years, but this is new to me. I am running 2.3.02

I am looking for a way to create slideshows with a standard fade effect, where I can turn off the bullet style navigation and make some other minor alterations. Next I need to be able to show different slideshows in different categories, I have found 2 extensions called Carousel by Category with this link http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension/info&extension_id=26811&filter_search=carousel&filter_license=1 and from the same developer Banners by Categories with this link http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension/info&extension_id=26378&filter_search=category%20banner

If I purchase both of these extensions does anyone know if they can work in conjunction and allow me to show different slideshows styled to my needs on different categories of my shop.

If anyone has any other suggestions as to how I can achieve this please feel free to point me in the right direction.
