Opencart Version 2.1.0.1

For some reason, when performing estimated shipping charges vs. checkout, the shipping modules return different amounts. Stock shipping modules for Fedex and USPS are being used, no changes have been made or other shipping extensions used.

A customer brought this to our attention, so curious how this can be corrected.

Even when customer enters zipcode and state for estimate, not logged into the cart, the estimate differs from the checkout shipping. During checkout, the shipping actually increases (compare #1 and #2 in screenshot).

However, once logged in, the shipping estimate vs. checkout should not change (comparing #2 and #3 in screenshot), but it does for Fedex. USPS does NOT change, which is good.

For Fedex, it almost seems random shipping charges are generated. For the same cart, every scenario in the screenshot varies.

This is usually due to the precision of the address, since the checkout includes the street address and city, while the shipping estimator does not. Have you tested the rates on Fedex's site, and see if the rates correspond to the checkout price?

If this is just a guest vs. logged-in issue, have you looked at your tax classes? It's possible the taxes are affecting the price display when logged in and aren't affecting the price when a guest.
