Hi everyone,

This may follow a similar idea to a 'free' store but I have been given a project that will require me to build a website that runs on a standard web server, with the aim of allowing around 2000 students to log into the site and download study guides, link to podcasts and track by activity (eg number of downloads per file, number of times users logged in ec)

Now obviously I thought of OC as I have been working with it a lot lately. The downloads feature appeals, with some sort of automatic download, combine that with an account for each user and you can get most of the way there.

The only question I have is... how can I bulk import user account data (i thought that either a phpmyadmin import from a properly formatted table or a spreadsheet might do it?) and has anyone attempted to track user account data such as time spent online, number of times logged in etc for the purposes of data analysis?

Just a thought - I know that this can be done with some of the education VLEs out there but i thought that it might make a nice case study for here and also a god summer project for me!

Thanks
J

Yep that could be an option.

Any thoughts on tracking? perhaps some sort of admin / analytics mod or is there an off the shelf bit of code out there?
