Fresh install 2.2 and import data from 1.5.4

Hopefull that someone has some experience/suggestions about this.

Considering doing a major upgrade from 1.5.4 to 2.2.
But i want to do a fresh install of 2.2 and importing only the data from 1.5.4.

Is this even possible? And what is the best way to do this?

At present, there is no tool for direct migration to opencart 2.2 but with the help of existing modules you can migrate data...with some manual work.

I am currently doing the same thing right now.

Why? Because many new templates / mods are being written for oc2.x And, I guess you have to keep up to date with web changes.

Is it possible? Yes. It's quite easy if you are making a fresh install and importing data (by data I mean products, customers, orders etc etc. not a roll up of all site data and settings etc). I found a must have extension that handles the Export and Import of data very well. It creates Excel sheets for you to import. Both 1.5.5.4 and 2.2 versions are included for the move.

You will need to make a few changes to exported data in Excel before importing, nothing major and easy to see what to change by exporting some test data from a oc2.x so you can see what is required from import sheet.

There are bugs listed for oc2.2 (latest) but nothing that I noticed, with exception of SSL related changes, if you use SSL. There is information in forum on what to change but if you are stuck I will list how to.

I did run into other problems after upgrade but they were all related to my server not clearing cache from my old oc 1.5.6.4 site. Also all sorted by host.
